The Bruton Suite

The Bruton Suite

"I wrote this music living alone in a church in Bruton", Steve remembers, "I have never written anything in this style before or since." Indeed he hasn't. "The Bruton Suite" is an electronic mass, a solemn, sublime and exalted one-hour long composition that takes you right into that church with its awe-inspiring ornamentations. Time seems to stand still, as these pieces switch from majestic string arrangements into sweet lute mysteries, constantly reinterpretating their motives. The music leaves the listener with a lot of space and by its free floating-nature, the pieces sever all ties with time. "I  felt inspired by the atmosphere around me and a sense to discover the truth in me", says Steve, "I devoted my time to a natural form of creativity that seemed to me a wonderful part of a magical environment." That last bit decribes it best: Really, this is both an organic and bewildering landscape that one can wander through, exploring its surface - and oneself.
